Viet Nam, Saudi Arabia mull over joint working group for economic affairs

Pham congratulated on Saudi Arabia's achievements in diversifying and advancing the development of non-oil economic sectors and promoting scientific-technological application, innovation, green growth in a bid to translate its Vision 2030 into reality.

Given the positive growth and potential of the two countries' relations, Prime Minister Pham suggested both sides strengthen economic connectivity and coordinate in organizing trade and investment promotion events, with a focus on such areas like energy, finance-banking, while enhancing cooperation in new domains like Halal production and digital transformation.

Pham also called on the two sides to facilitate import of their key products into each other market and work together to remove obstables hindering export of Vietnamese aquatic products to the Middle East country.

He also asked the two countries to boost delegation, people-to-people, cultural exchanges, share development experience, and strengthen aviation connectivity.

Minister Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim spoke highly of the Vietnamese Government's economic management, pledging to work closely with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources – the Saudi Arabian co-chair of the Viet Nam-Saudi Arabia Inter-governmental Committee to further deepen economic cooperation with Viet Nam, particularly in trade and investment.

The minister said both countries should take advantage of each other's markets to expand exports to other markets the two regions.

He expressed his wish to visit Viet Nam in the near future to sign cooperation documents with Vietnamese counterparts.

To achieve the aforesaid goals, both sides agreed to mull over the establishment of a joint working group for economic affairs and soon convene the 5th meeting of the Inter-governmental Committee./.
