Viet Nam reports 28,291 COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed additional 28,291 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the national patient tally to 1,958,719.

The number of daily new COVID-19 cases from January 1-12, 2022.

The latest patients consist of 69 imported cases and 28,222 domestic infections in 60 cities and provinces: Khanh Hoa (12,928), Ha Noi (2,948), Binh Dinh (702), Ho Chi Minh City (696), Binh Phuoc (641), Da Nang (592), Ca Mau (535), Hai Phong (525), Ben Tre (499), Tay Ninh (473), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (400), Tra Vinh (399), Vinh Long (395), Bac Ninh (375), Thanh Hoa (354), Quang Ninh (319), Thua Thien Hue (270), Hung Yen (270), Quang Ngai (253), Lam Dong (248), Hai Duong (245), Nam Dinh (227), Bac Lieu (210), Quang Nam (208), Vinh Phuc (198), Thai Nguyen (186), Hau Giang (182), Ha Giang (182), Hoa Binh (171), Bac Giang (163), Can Tho (161), Binh Thuan (134), Nghe An (133), Dong Thap (133), Kien Giang (125), Dak Nong (120), Ninh Binh (114), An Giang (108), Son La (106), Phu Tho (105), Thai Binh (103), Quang Binh (100), Tuyen Quang (99), Dong Nai (93), Soc Trang (89), Ha Nam (85), Lao Cai (80), Quang Trị (68), Dien Bien (66), Yen Bai (60), Gia Lai (59), Bac Kan (56), Long An (40), Ninh Thuan (40), Lai Chau (38), Binh Duong (34), Cao Bang (28), Tien Giang (27), Phu Yen (23) and Dak Lak (1).

The national tally includes 1,952,594 locally transmitted cases recorded since April 27, 2021 when the fourth COVID-19 wave began.

The same day, the ministry reported 38,943 recoveries, taking the total number of recovered cases to 1,635,899.

The ministry also announced further 177 fatalities, bringing the nation’s COVID-19 death toll to 34,964 or 1.8 percent of the total infections.

The nation has administered 163,533,682 COVID-19 vaccine doses, an increase of 1,120,898 doses from Tuesday./.
