The awards were announced at the 30th annual WTA Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2023 that took place in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.
The southern metropolis Ho Chi Minh City earned two awards of 'Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination' and 'Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination.'
The Tam Chuc National Tourist Area, in northern province of Ha Nam, was voted both as 'Asia's Leading Cultural Destination' and 'Viet Nam's Leading Cultural Destination,' while Cuc Phuong National Park was honored as 'Asia's Leading National Park.'
Moc Chau Town of northern Son La Province was named 'Viet Nam's Leading Natural Destination' and 'Asia's Leading Natural Destination.'
Ha Noi was honored in three categories: 'Asia's Leading Resort Destination,' 'Asia's Leading City Destination,' and 'Asia's Leading City Tourist Board,' while Phu Quoc City of southern Kien Giang Province gained the title of 'Asia's Leading Luxury Island Destination.'
This is the third time that Viet Nam has been selected as the venue for the WTA awards ceremony, opening an opportunity for Vietnamese tourism to continue to enhance its international position as one of the world's leading travel destinations.
Viet Nam welcomed more than 7.8 million international visitors in the first eight months of 2023, equivalent to 97.5 per cent of the year's target, according to the latest report from the General Statistics Office./.
