The Spokeswoman made the statement in response to reporters’ inquiries about Viet Nam's reaction to a recent announcement by Taiwan to conduct live-fire drill in the waters around Viet Nam's Ba Binh Island (ItuAba), on November 29.

The drill threatens peace, stability, and maritime safety and security; causes tensions; and complicates the situation in the East Sea, emphasized Le.

Viet Nam resolutely opposes and demands Taiwan stop the above illegal act and not repeat similar violations, she said.

Viet Nam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to assert its sovereignty over the Spratly and Paracel Islands in accordance with international law, the Spokesperson reiterated./.
