The consul jurisdiction covers eight coastal provinces in southern Thailand, namely Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun, Ranong, Songkhla, and Surat Thani.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung highlighted the special significance of the inauguration of the Office as the two nations are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Over the past half-century, the relations between the two countries have evolved from close people-to-people exchanges into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he noted.

The relationship has been further elevated by the highly successful official visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Thailand and the official visit of Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charvirakul to Viet Nam in 2026, ushering in a new phase of development marked by deeper strategic trust, broader cooperation, and more substantive outcomes, stated the diplomat.

The Ambassador warmly congratulated Mr. Thaneth Tantipiriyakij on his appointment as Viet Nam's Honorary Consul in Phuket, affirming that the Embassy of Viet Nam in Bangkok, together with relevant Vietnamese authorities, will work closely with the Honorary Consul and provide him with maximum support in fulfilling his responsibilities, thereby further strengthening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Thailand.

Following the inauguration, the Viet Nam Connect Phuket 2026 forum was held with the participation of 60 businesses from both countries to foster networking, identify partnership opportunities, and translate potential into concrete business cooperation.

At the forum, the national carrier Viet Nam Airlines introduced Ho Chi Minh City–Phuket route, which officially commenced operations on July 2 with four round-trip flights per week, providing greater convenience for travel and business exchanges between the two countries./.
