Viet Nam, New Zealand should double efforts to realize US$3 billion trade goal
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called upon both Viet Nam and New Zealand to double effort to soon realize the trade goal of US$3 billion and boost connectivity of the two economies which are complementary in their nature.

The Government chief made the call at his reception for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand Winston Peters in Ha Noi on June 5.
The host leader urged both sides to spur cooperation in traditional domains and work together in the new fronts such as climate change response, energy transition, green growth and digital economy.
The Prime Minister also suggested the two foreign ministries maintain the foreign minsterial meeting mechanism and work with competent ministries and sectors to conduct specific projects.
In reply, Peters said that New Zealand attaches great importance to Viet Nam’s role in the region and the world, and the Viet Nam – Zealand Strategic Partnership.
He also expected that the two sides will build a new framework for their relations soon on the basis of the current sound ties.
The two sides agreed to support for each other at multilateral forums, and continue effective coordination when Viet Nam serves as a coordinator of the ASEAN – New Zealand relations from July 2024 to July 2027.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides agreed to support ASEAN’s stance on the waters, settling disputes via peaceful means based on international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), ensuring safety, security and freedom of navigation and overflight in the waters./.
