Hoang emphasized that Viet Nam and Japan have a long-standing relationship and many cultural similarities, which are the premises for the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Hoang lauded the comprehensive and positive results of the Viet Nam-Japan defense cooperation over the past years, describing it as one of the critical pillars in bilateral relations.
He underlined the successful exchange of delegations at all levels, the effective maintenance of defense policy dialogue mechanisms at the deputy ministerial level, and consultations between the navy, army, and air force staff officers.
He also highlighted the enhancement of technology transfer cooperation and the ongoing efforts to address the consequences of war in Viet Nam.
As there remains ample potential for bilateral defense cooperation, particularly in areas where Japan has strengths, and Viet Nam has needs, he asked Funakoshi to make recommendations to the Japanese Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Defence for the continued promotion of practical and effective defense cooperation, thus significantly contributing to the overall strong relationship between the two countries.
For his part, Senior Deputy Minister, Funakoshi Takehiro stressed that the bilateral cooperative relationship is on a positive trajectory, including in national defence.
He expressed a desire to deepen further and enhance defense collaboration more practically and effectively, which would contribute to the development of both nations and maintain stability and peace in the region and the world./.
