Viet Nam, Japan sign loan agreements worth nearly JPY61 billion

VGP – Viet Nam and Janpan have signed three loan agreements under which the latter will provide the former with nearly JPY61 billion in official development assistance for post-COVID recovery and infrastructure projects.

The total funding includes JPY50 billion for post-COVID socio-economic development and recovery, JPY6.3 billion for the development of a bus rapid transit system connecting the industrial province of Binh Duong and nearby Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province, and JPY4.7 billion for agricultural infrastructure development in the southern province of Lam Dong.

The signing of the new loan agreements marks another milestone to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Japan.

With these new agreements, Japan remains the biggest provider of concessional ODA to Viet Nam with JPY2,567 billion (around US$23 billion)./.
