Phan affirmed that Viet Nam always attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world with Japan.

Japan is one of the few partners with which Viet Nam maintains a full range of defense cooperation mechanisms, including the deputy ministerial-level defense policy dialogue and staff officer consultations among the naval, ground, and air forces of both countries, noted the host.

He highly appreciated Japan's cooperation and support in such areas as training, defense industry, technology transfer, and post-war recovery.

Phan expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to work closely and effectively implement the agreed areas of cooperation so that defense ties would truly serve as a pillar of bilateral relations.

Phan reiterated that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will create favorable conditions for the implementation of the bilateral cooperation initiatives in a substantive manner.

He urged Japan to continue to provide scholarships and expand training programs with Viet Nam, including increasing quotas for undergraduate and postgraduate education in science, engineering, and technology for personnel of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.

Phan took the occasion to invite leaders of Japan's Ministry of Defense, the Japan Self-Defense Forces, and Japanese defense industry enterprises to attend the third Viet Nam International Defense Expo, scheduled to take place in December this year.

Hiroaki, for his part, reaffirmed that Japan treasures and seeks to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam on the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.

He expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to work closely together to advance bilateral defense cooperation, particularly in such areas as delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, training, cybersecurity, and military medicine./.
