Viet Nam, Indonesia should raise two-way trade to US$15 bln by 2028: President Joko

VGP - Indonesia and Viet Nam should consider drafting an action plan to implement the strategic partnership for 2024-2-28 and raise two-way trade to US$15 billion by 2028, said Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

President Joko made the above statement during his reception for Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son who is in Indonesia to co-chair the fourth meeting of the Viet Nam-Indonesia Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.

Joko congratulated Viet Nam on its achievements in managing the COVID-19 pandemic, quickly regaining pace of socio-economic development, and successfully hosting the 31st SEA GAMES.

He took the occasion to convey his greetings to senior Vietnamese leaders.

Bui, for his part, reaffirmed Viet Nam consistently attaches importance to further strengthening the strategic partnership with Indonesia, expressing his belief that Indonesia will successfully host the G20 Presidency and successfully realize its Vision 2045.

He suggested President Joko support  early signing of a memorandum of understanding on trade cooperation for the next four years, expansion of air routes and flight frequency between the two countries.

Bui spoke highly of the two countries' collaboration at regional and international forums, affirming Viet Nam's support for Indonesia to succeed in its role as ASEAN Chair in 2030./.
