The event is part of Prime Minister Pham's ongoing three-day tour to Saudi Arabia where he is set to attend the ASEAN-GCC Summit.
The MoU marks a historic achievement which will pay the way for enhancing the Viet Nam-GCC ties, noted Pham, urging both sides to adopt a concrete plan to effectively realize the MoU.
The signing of the MoU comes within the framework of consolidating and developing cooperation relations between the two sides, and finding wider areas for cooperation in issues of joint interest, in a way that serves the common good, shared GCC Secretary-General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi.
It aims to provide a general framework for cooperation between the two sides in areas and priorities of common interest and establish a consultation mechanism between Viet Nam and GCC.
Furthermore, Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi affirmed that the MoU will address cooperation between the two sides in political issues, economic fields, cultural areas, communication between peoples and mechanisms for implementing what was agreed in the Memorandum.
At his meeting with GCC Secretary-General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi on the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spoke highly of GCC's role, affirming Viet Nam attaches importance to further strengthening win-win cooperation with the GCC and its member countries.
Viet Nam stands ready to play a bridging role in promoting cooperation between ASEAN and the GCC – the two dynamic and fast-developing regions in the world – for peace, stability and development across the globe, Pham reiterated.
Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, for his part, highly valued Viet Nam's role and position on the international arena as well as its recent achievements.
He affirmed that all six Gulf countries have maintained good relations with Viet Nam and promised to actively help Viet Nam to boost cooperation with the Gulf countries.
The Secretary-General expressed his firm belief that both ASEAN and GCC will create success stories as they are both stable, dynamic, peace-loving regions where tireless efforts have been made to promote cooperation for the benefits of their people.
Prime Minister Pham took the occasion to invite Secretary-General Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi to visit Viet Nam soon to discuss concrete cooperation contents./.
