Viet Nam is prepared to join BRICS members and the international community in enhancing cooperation and mobilizing resources to advance the priorities of developing nations, such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, leveraging scientific and technological progress for development, people-to-people exchanges, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals while addressing shared global challenges.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the above statement at the Ministry's regular press briefing in response to a question on how Viet Nam will leverage its role and position following its official recognition as a partner country of the BRICS group.
She affirmed that Viet Nam is willing to coordinate and connect BRICS initiatives with related multilateral frameworks, reinforcing peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development at both regional and global levels.
On June 14, responding to Brazil's announcement of Viet Nam's official partnership with BRICS, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stressed that under the spirit of proactive and comprehensive international integration, Viet Nam has been and will continue to make meaningful contributions to multilateral forums, mechanisms, and organizations.
These contributions aim to promote peace, stability, cooperation, and development both regionally and internationally, Pham said.
Alongside its active participation in multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, the expanded G7 and G20, and the OECD, Viet Nam's engagement with BRICS reflects its aspiration to strengthen the voice and role of developing nations, foster global solidarity, and champion inclusive and rules-based multilateralism.
This move also reaffirms Viet Nam's consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization of external relations, positioning itself as a trusted partner and a proactive, responsible member of the international community./.
