Viet Nam-China int’l road passenger transport service launched

Two transportation companies of Viet Nam and China will offer the regular service.  Two 29-seat buses of a Vietnamese company will shuttle between the two sites daily.

The service has been launched in line with a protocol between the Vietnamese and Chinese governments on the implementation of a bilateral road transport agreement signed on October 11, 2011.

The route is expected to help satisfy the travel demand of border residents, and promote tourism of both sides.

Although Chinese authorities have allowed Chinese to travel to Viet Nam in groups from March 15, the number of visitors has increased slowly, with about 400,000 Chinese tourists in the past five months.

Located in the Kunming-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong-Quang Ninh economic corridor, Yunnan is also a bridge for Vietnamese products to go further into the Chinese market.

Despite the high cooperation potential, trade between Viet Nam and Yunnan province remained modest at only US$3.2 billion in 2022, a very small amount of the US$175.6 billion in trade between Viet Nam and China in the year./.
