Viet Nam breaks 150-million-dose mark in COVID-19 vaccine rollout

VGP – Nearly 1.6 million doses of vaccines were administered in Viet Nam on December 30, bringing the total number of vaccine doses to 151 million as of Friday morning.

Over 137 million doses had been used to vaccine the adult population with more than 69 million doses for first jab, over 63 million others for second jab, 1.1 million others for Addala vaccine, 994,301 additional doses, and more than 1.8 million repeat shots.

Among the over 18-year-old population, the coverage of the first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccines reached 99.4% and 89.9%, respectively.

Regarding regions, the rates are 96.1% and 86.8% in the North, 96.8% and 88.2% in the Central Region; 96.8% and 82.6% in the Central Highlands Region, and 100% and 92.6% in the South.

About first dose coverage rates by locality, 40 out of 63 localities have achieved over 95%; 14 others with 90-95%. The rest of nine localities reported lower than 90% including Quang Binh (85.3%), Hung Yen (86.7%), Lang Son (87.3%), Cao Bang (88.5%), Nam Dinh (88.6%), Ca Mau (88.6%), Tay Ninh (88.7%), Lai Chau (88.9%), and Ha Tinh (89%).

Regarding second dose coverage rates by locality, 31 localities enjoyed over 90%. 

 

The vaccination campaign on children aged 12-17 has been sped up with more than 12 million doses of vaccines having been administered including 7.5 million doses for the first shot and 4.46 million others for second shot.

Among the teenage population, 83% of them have been partially inoculated and 49.1% fully vaccinated. 

Regarding regions, the rates are 78% (for first shot) and 37.2% (for second shots) in the North, 75.2% and 36.4% in the Central Region; 86.2% and 18.8% in the Central Highlands Region, and 91.5% and 72% in the South./.
