Nearly two years since Vedan was caught illegally discharging wastewater into the river which seriously harmed the environment and peasants alongside the river, the company agreed to compensate at the request of the peasants.
Days early, Vedan also agreed to pay VND 45.7 billion and VND 53.6 billion for peasants in Hồ Chí Minh City and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province.
Đồng Nai’s lawyers on August 11 continued to work with peasants in the districts of Long Thành and Nhơn Trạch to fulfill documents to launch a suit against Vedan.
Up to now, peasants along the river have completed over 1,200 documents to be sent to the court against the case.
