The event created an open dialogue for participants to discuss challenges, benefits and solutions in pursuing green energy sustainability in Viet Nam.
The conference focused the discussion on challenges for clean energy development in Viet Nam and opportunities for investors in this area. These are hot issues in the context that the energy demand is growing rapidly to meet the country’s fast and sustainable socio-economic development.
Viet Nam has great potential for renewable energy, particularly solar and wind power, but domestic and foreign investment attraction in the field is facing many difficulties in capital, policy mechanisms, and high risk areas.
Viet Nam has determined that economic development should be sustainable instead of fast at any cost and to proceed with social advancements and environment protection.
Lessons learnt, experience, suggestions and recommendations at the conference will be useful references for the Vietnamese government to improve policies on promoting renewable and clean energy.
The conference, part of the continuing celebration of the 20-year anniversary of the normalisation of US – Viet Nam bilateral relations, was co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh city-based US Consulate General, Viet Nam Investment Review and sponsored by General Electric.
