The local tourism has proposed UNWTO assist it in mapping out regional development plans, and implement marketing campaigns for its tourism brands in the world.
Mr. Rifai met with Vice State President Nguyễn Thị Doan, worked with Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoàng Tuấn Anh and visited the Thăng Long Royal Citadel, Bái Đính Bagoda and Tràng An eco-tourism site in Ninh Bình Province.
The UNWTO General Secretary said Việt Nam’s tourism has developed strongly, receiving over 6 million foreign tourists last year. High tourism growth has created many jobs for youths and women, including those in rural areas, he said.
In the first quarter of this year, the local tourism sector made revenues of VND 41.4 billion, up 14.1% on-year.
