UNDK, South Korea help improve disadvantaged groups' access to healthcare services

The Vietnamese Ministry of Health, the Korea Foundation of International Healthcare (KOFIH) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed the MoU.
Under the MoU, the Korean Government will provide non-refundable aid worth over US$3.2million for the project, which will be implemented in 10 localities, including Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Quang Ngai, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hau Giang, Ben Tre and Tay Ninh.
The project aims to improve health for 10 million disadvantaged people via improving access to healthcare services and enhancing digital transformation in the health sector.
Addressing the event, UNDP Resident Representative in Viet Nam Ramla Khalidi asserted that the UNDP stands ready to support Viet Nam to reach targets set in the National Target Program on New Rural Development till 2025 and the National Digital Transformation Program.
In December 2020, a digital application "Doctor for Everyone" was jointly developed by UNDP and the Electronic Health Administration of the Ministry of Health. This software is being deployed in 537 grassroots health facilities in three provinces consisting of Ha Giang, Bac Kan, and Lang Son.
In the implementation phase in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Ca Mau and Dak Lak since November 2022, more than 2,000 healthcare staff at more than 800 grassroots health facilities have been trained and connected to provide telemedicine services. These five provinces have a combined population of around seven million people./.
