UK to provide £1 million to help Viet Nam overcome typhoon Yagi consequences

VGP – The UK Government will provide £1 million of humanitarian assistance to Viet Nam to support initial phase of the response to the impact of typhoon Yagi, the British Ambassy in Ha Noi announced Saturday.

The assistance will be allocated to humanitarian partners and will reach individuals directly through providing emergency supply, cash assistance, and critical services such as health, water and sanitation.

UK Minister for Development Anneliese Dodds said: “The UK Government stands beside the people affected by the devastating impact of typhoon Yagi in Viet Nam. We have coordinated closely with the Vietnamese Government and humanitarian partners to identify where our support can have greatest impact.”

Yagi, the strongest storm hitting Viet Nam over the last 70 years, left at least 348 people dead and missing as of 6: p.m. on September 15, according to the Vietnamese Government./.
