Typhoon Matmo forecast to bring heavy rains to Northern Viet Nam

As of 7am on October 5, the storm was about 420km east of Quang Ninh province and moving west-northwest at a speed of 25kph, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

By 4am on October 6, the typhoon is expected to reach the coastline of Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong City and then weaken into a tropical depression.

Northern localities will experience heavy rains between 150-400mm from Sunday afternoon, the forecasting center said./.
