The incident occurred around 10.30 am of November 6. Colonel Nguyen Van Son, one of the two pilots in the plane crash, was found at 10.30 pm while the other pilot, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, was found at 8.05 pm.

The aircraft, belonging to the 940th Air Regiment of the Air Force Officer School, was engaged in a complex training mission involving long-distance, no-horizon and cloud penetration flying, in challenging weather conditions.

As the aircraft prepared to land after completing its training objectives, the pilots discovered the landing gear failed to deploy. Despite attempting emergency procedures, they were unable to rectify the issue.

With the safety of the crew paramount, the pilots were authorized to eject from the aircraft. The two pilots successfully ejected at approximately 11am.

The Yak-130, a Russian-manufactured training jet, is capable of reaching speeds up to 1,060 kph and can fly at a maximum altitude of 12,500 meters./.
