Trade surplus hits over US$2.8 bln in two months

VGP - Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus of US$2.82 billion over the first two months of this year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Viet Nam's exports in February was estimated at US$25.88 billion, up 9.8 percent against the previous month and up 11 percent in comparison with the same period last year.

The nation gained US$49.44 billion from exporting in two months, a year-on-year decrease of 10.4 percent.

Meanwhile, Viet Nam spent US$23.58 billion on imports in February, raising the total import value in two months to US$46.62 billion, down 16 percent.

The U.S. remains the largest importer of Vietnamese goods over the last two months of this year, spending an estimated sum of US$13.1 billion, while China was the biggest exporter of goods to Viet Nam with US$14.6 billion over the same period.
