The tra fish export value in the first six months of the year reached US$918 million, a year-on-year growth of 5 percent.
In June alone, tra fish export earned nearly US$172 million, soaring 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
China and Hong Kong remained the largest importers of Vietnamese tra fish products in June with an estimated value of US$56 million, up 16 percent year-on-year, followed by the U.S. with US$27 million, surging 22 percent year-on-year.
Viet Nam aims to produce 1.7 million tons of commercial tra fish and earn US$2 billion from exporting the products in 2024.
To that end, the fishery sector needs to be ready with plans to better respond to the increasingly competitive market, and stricter regulations and technical barriers of importing countries.
In 2023, Viet Nam's tra fish export value decreased by 27 percent year on year to US$1.8 billion./.
