He extended sympathies to Viet Nam over the devastating consequences caused by Typhoon Yagi, expressing his belief that Viet Nam would soon overcome the storm aftermath under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Sonexay spoke highly of Viet Nam's capacity to maintain strong economic growth and political stability, increasingly improve people's living conditions, and expand its role and position on the global arena.

The special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos have been increasingly consolidated and enhanced, Sonexay noted.

Tran expressed his wish to further strengthen relations between the two sides' legislative bodies in an effective and practical manner in favor of national development and Fatherland protection in each country.

He promised to coordinate closely with the Lao National Assembly to create favorable legal corridor for the two Governments to effectively realize high-level agreements reached by the two sides' political bureaus and to facilitate the implementation of joint investment projects between the two countries.

He also called on the two countries to further intensify bilateral defense and security cooperation to effectively deal with traditional and non-traditional security challenges and to build the Viet Nam-Laos border line of peace, friendship, stability and sustainable development.

Earlier the same day, Tran held talks with President of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane, during which both sides discussed measures to boost legislative ties at both bilateral and multilateral aspects./.
