The two foreign ministers expressed their delight at the practical and intensive development in the Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership.

They vowed to increase all-level delegation exchanges, especially high-ranking ones, and effectively promote current cooperation mechanisms such as Viet Nam-UK strategic dialogue, defense policy dialogue, and the Joint Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation (JETCO).

The two sides underlined the need to effectively build and carry out the Viet Nam-UK action plan in the 2024-2026 period as well as voice their support for each other at multi-lateral and regional organizations and forums.

They pledged to continue implementing the UK-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) to boost economic ties.

Regarding the East Sea issue, both sides voiced support for the maintenance of peace, stability, freedom and security of aviation and navigation, and for resolution of disputes at the East Sea via peaceful means on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

The Vietnamese Foreign Minister asserted that Viet Nam backs the UK to participate in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), expecting that it would create new impetus for both nations to step up cooperation in trade and investment and boost regional economic linkages.

Viet Nam will actively promote substantive cooperation programs between ASEAN and the UK as the country will assume its role as the coordinator for relations between ASEAN and the UK during 2024-2027 period, he reiterated.

David Cameron, for his part, affirmed that the UK attaches importance to strengthening the strategic partnership with Viet Nam.

The UK will continue working with Viet Nam to develop sustainable economy, he said, suggesting both sides continue enhancing collaboration in migration and immigration./.
