To Lam holds talks with Thai Prime Minister in Bangkok

The Vietnamese leader reiterated that Viet Nam always attaches importance and expects to further advance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Thailand.

He proposed that the two sides promptly establish a joint working group to formulate plans and effectively implement the "Three Connections" strategy, including (i) supply chain connectivity, (ii) business-to-business and local-to-local connectivity, and (iii) connectivity between sustainable development strategies.

To also called on both sides to foster cooperation in transport and logistics connectivity, while expanding collaboration in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, digital economy, green economy, innovation, and just energy transition.

The guest underlined the need to uphold and implement the commitment made by the two countries' senior leaders not to allow any individual or organization to use the territory of one country to conduct activities against the other.

He urged the two sides to promptly sign an extradition agreement and a mutual legal assistance agreement on criminal matters.

Charnvirakul, for his part, asserted that Viet Nam is among Thailand's most important partners in the region, emphasizing that the two countries share many similarities and possess the potential to become major global manufacturing hubs.

He affirmed Thailand supports and encourages businesses of both countries to enhance cooperation, hailed the effective operations of Vietnamese enterprises in his country, and welcomed more Vietnamese investors to the Thai market.

He urged both sides to explore joint projects in biotechnology and microbial technology, affirming that Thailand stands ready to share its experience with Viet Nam in the application of space technology and satellite utilization.

The host emphasized that Thailand will absolutely not allow its territory to be used for activities against other countries.

The two leaders pledged to continue strengthening political trust via maintaining all-level exchanges across all channels, enhancing the effectiveness of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, convening the fifth Joint Cabinet Retreat in Thailand and soon holding a meeting of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between the two Foreign Ministers.

They vowed to further deepen defense and security cooperation, reinforce coordination in combating transnational crime, cybercrime, and drug-related crimes, and enhance collaboration in ensuring maritime security and safety.

Both sides concurred to boost economic connectivity in a mutually complementary manner, while accelerating licensing procedures and market access for several potential agricultural products.

The two leaders underscored the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation in culture, education, tourism, and local-level partnerships.

They affirmed to closely work and support each other at regional and international forums, uphold ASEAN centrality and strengthen intra-bloc solidarity, while stepping up cooperation within the framework of APEC and Mekong sub-regional cooperation mechanisms.

The leaders highlighted the need to maintain peace and stability, ensure maritime and aviation security, safety, and freedom of navigation and overflight, and resolve disputes via peaceful means in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)./.
