The phone talk takes place on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-China diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950-January 18, 2025) and in the excited atmosphere as the two nations prepare to celebrate the traditional lunar new year of 2025.
The two leaders highly appreciated the important significance of their phone conversation – an important and very good start of the Viet Nam-China humanistic exchange year.
The phone call also reflected the high regard and top priority of each side for the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries, helping to guide effective cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries in 2025 and beyond.
In a sincere, open and friendly atmosphere, the two leaders highly valued the traditional friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and China over the past 75 years, saying it has maintained positive development trend, reaped important achievements, and brought practical benefits to the two countries' people.
In 2024, high-level exchanges took place frequently, helping to promote the spirit of friendship and effective cooperation across various levels, sectors and different walks of life. Many agreements and high-level common perceptions have been actively implemented.
On behalf of the Party, State and people of Viet Nam, General Secretary To Lam extended sympathies to families of the victims and to all those affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Tibet, expressing his belief that Chinese people will soon overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives under the timely leadership and guidance of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
To also congratulated on China's significant achievements over the past time under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Xi as the core, expressing his belief that China will continue strong development cause and make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
Xi congratulated the Communist Party of Viet Nam and General Secretary To Lam on the occasion of the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (February 3, 1930-February 3, 2025) and spoke highly of Viet Nam's achievements over the recent past.
He expressed his belief that the Communist Party of Viet Nam, led by General Secretary To Lam, will lead the Vietnamese people to successfully realize the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress, successfully organize the 14th National Party Congress, and achieve the centennial goals to celebrate the 100th founding anniversary of the Party in 2030 and the 100th founding anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in 2045.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam always treasure the valuable support and assistance from the Party, State and people of China during historical periods, reiterating that Viet Nam always considers developing relationship with China a top priority in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multi-lateralization and diversification.
Xi affirmed the Party and State of China give priority to advancing the relationship with Viet Nam in its neighborhood diplomacy.
On the occasion, the two leaders jointly announced the launch of the year of Viet Nam-China humanistic exchange 2025 and agreed to coordinate in organizing events to mark the 75th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-China diplomatic relations and the Viet Nam-China humanistic exchange year.
Both sides also agreed to continue enhancing strategic exchanges between the two Parties and the two countries, in which high-level exchanges hold strategic orientation significance for the overall bilateral relations.
The leaders agreed to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms led by the two Parties, Governments, Parliaments, Fatherland Front Central Committees while promoting defense and security cooperation as a key pillar of the bilateral ties, creating new breakthroughs in economic cooperation, accelerating the connections of three standard-gauge railway lines, and expanding cooperation in emerging areas.
The leaders briefed each other about recent developments of each Party and country and agreed to strengthen the exchange of experience and theory discussions on socialism building.
They also agreed to coordinate on international and regional issues to contribute to promoting peace, stability and development in the region and the world.
To suggested both sides direct sectors and levels to seek effective measures to better manage and resolve differences and to foster cooperation in accordance with the level of the bilateral ties, and on the basis of the United Nations Charter and international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
