The third Thai Nguyen Tea Festival |
The event lured the attendance of Politburomembers: Permanent Secretary of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Le Hong Anh, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Mass Mobilisation Ha Thi Khiet.
Addressing the event, Deputy PM Phuc emphasized that Viet Nam is a country with time-honoured tea production and 240,000 hectares of tea cultivation in 30 cities and provinces.
The tea industry has become an important economic sector, significantly contributing to the socio-economic development, job generation, higher income, poverty elimination, and environmental protection, said Mr. Phuc.
According to the leader, made-in-Viet Nam tea products are available in 100 foreign countries and territories, making Viet Nam the fifth largest tea producer in the world.
The Deputy PM hoped that Viet Nam’s tea industry, particularly that of Thai Nguyen, would continue to develop on both the domestic and international markets.
The three-day festival has brought together representatives of nearly 100 domestic provinces, tea enterprises and traditional tea villages around the country.
The event has also drawn the participation of delegates from foreign countries that import tea products from Viet Nam including the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand, Brunel, Russia and Turkey.
The third festival also features other cultural and arts activities including a festival honouring Vietnamese tea and ASEAN culture and a ‘Miss Tea-land’ contest, as well as arts performances in Tan Cuong, La Bang, Diem Mac, Tuc Tranh communes and a photo exhibition depicting the beauty of land used for growing tea.
A seminar discussing measures to improve the quality and value of Thai Nguyen tea products, along with a trade and tourism fair will also be held on the occasion./.
