Textile and garment exports likely to reach US$42 billion

VGP – Viet Nam is likely to realize its goal of raising export value of garment and textile to around US$42 in 2023.

In the first half, textile and garment exports were estimated at over US$22 billion, up 17.7 percent against the same period last year, Vu Duc Giang, President of the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS).

Of the above figure, garment export turnover rose by 19.5 percent to US$16.94 billion, followed by fabrics (US$2.76 billion, up 4.4 percent), clothing (US$1.4 billion, up 20.8 percent), and apparel exports (US$734 million, up 22.3 percent).

Meanwhile, the import value of input materials and apparels was estimated at US$13.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.8 percent.

Last year, Viet Nam's textile and garment export volume was estimated at US$39 billion, up 11.2 percent on year./.
