The State President highlighted efforts and contributions of ASEAN in accelerating trade freedom, investment and enhancing connection in the framework of APEC and in the Asia-Pacific.

Praising the role businesses have played in regional association and connection, Mr. Sang proposed the businesses join the APEC Framework on Connectivity approved at high-ranking Meetings in Bali and Beijing.

They should continue to provide technical assistance and increase connection capacity for developing economies, especially in terms of education, training and response to global challenges such as climate change and natural calamity.

He also suggested the businesses support ASEAN members in launching Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity, sub-regional projects on infrastructure and narrow the development gap between ASEAN and the Greater Mekong Subregion.

State President Sang hoped that APEC businesses will assist Viet Nam in upgrading infrastructure, especially in the fields of capital, technology and competence enhancement.

Viet Nam has given priority to building the East-West Economic Corridor in the expanded Greater Mekong Subregion and the Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area, the Southern Economic Corridor and the NorthSouth Economic Corridor, marine and harbor infrastructure, economic zones, industrial parks and border economic areas, he revealed.

The businesses at the meeting highly valued Viet Nam’s achievements in stabilizing the macro-economy and restructuring the economy.

They expected that Viet Nam maintains its status as an attractive destination for investors, affirming to strengthen investment activities in Viet Nam.

The event, held from November 9-10, drew the attendance of more than 1,500 top corporations in the region.
