Luong warmly welcomed King Abdullah II on his first visit to Viet Nam, saying that this is the first high-level delegation exchange since the two countries established diplomatic relations 45 years ago.

Luong congratulated on the development achievements gained by Jordan over nearly eight decade of independence, particularly in implementing the Economic Modernization Vision with a focus on economic reform.

King Abdullah II, who is on a two-day official visit to Viet Nam,congratulated on Viet Nam’s development achievements, expressing his sympathies over the devastating consequences of recent natural disasters in the Southeast Asian nation.

In an open, sincere and trusted manner, the two leaders agreed that both countries should work together to consolidate political trust through the exchange of delegations, especially high-level ones; effectively realize the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation signed between the two foreign ministries during King Abdullah II’s visit.

The leaders agreed to foster cooperation in major fields such as defense and security, especially in information sharing and exchange of experts and officials, in a bid to enhance mutual understanding; facilitate market access for the two countries’ key exports; and encourage business communities to explore investment opportunities in the domains of infrastructure development, digital economy, telecommunication, and agricultural production and processing, while promoting connections betwwen the two sides’ startup and innovation ecosystems.

King Abdullah II suggested Viet Nam and Jordan mull over the launch of a direct air route between the two countries and facilitate visa issuance to their citizens.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen academic and student exchanges, particularly in emerging domains like artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

On multilateral cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue consultation and mutual support at multilateral fora, while serving as a bridge to promote cooperation between ASEAN and the Arab League.

The two leaders also compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concern, including the East Sea issue.

The same day, King Abdullah II also met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh./.
