State President leaves for 80th anniversary of victory over fascism in China

VGP - State President Luong Cuong left Ha Noi on Tuesday for a three-day tour to China, where he is set to attend the 80th anniversary of the victory against fascism.

Luong's tour is made at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

The State President is accompanied by Chairman of the Central Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Chairman of the Government Office Le Khanh Hai, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga, Vice Chairman of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission Nguyen Hoang Anh, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Hong Thai, Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh.

This is the first visit to China by Luong Cuong since he was elected as State President of Viet Nam on October 21, 2024.

State President Luong Cuong's participation in the event demonstrates Viet Nam's special regard for the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China, stressed the Ambassador.

It also reflects Viet Nam's consistent policy to firmly protect global peace values, promote mutually beneficial cooperation for common development and prosperity of countries and people around the world, Pham said.

In addition, Luong's participation at the event indicates Viet Nam's will and determination to push for rapid and sustainable development goals in the new era of the nation's rise.

During his stay in China, State President Luong will also meet with top Chinese leaders to discuss major orientations to effectively realize the common perceptions reached by the two countries' leaders, strengthen political trust and seek measures to satisfactorily address the remaining issues of the bilateral ties, thus creating foundations for both sides to boost cooperation across channels, levels and fields.

State President Luong and Chinese leaders are expected to brief each other about recent developments in each country and compare notes on several regional and international issues of common concern./.
