State President congratulates new German President

VGP – Vietnamese State President Nguyễn Minh Triết on July 1 in Hà Nội cabled a congratulatory message to Mr. Christian Wulff who recently won the election to be the new President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Mr. Christian Wulff, 51 years old, the Minister-President of the State of Lower Saxony and a Deputy Chairman of former German President Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), will become the youngest President in the German history.

President Wulff won 625 of 1,242 votes in the third ballot of the Federal Assembly, which is responsible for electing German President. He will be sworn in on July 2, 2010 in front of the Bundestag (Federal Diet) and the Bundesrat (Federal Council).
