Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh made the above statement during his reception for Governor of Oregon Katherine Brown in Ha Noi on November 14.
Pham lauded on the active and substantive development in Viet Nam-U.S. ties regardless of negative impacts of COVID-19, with the two-way trade value posting a record high of US$111 billion in 2021.
For her part, Katherine Brown expressed her delight to visit Viet Nam, saying that Viet Nam is currently the 8th largest export market of Oregon with the export value exceeding US$1 billion in 2021.
Katherine Brown said that the Biden Administration is interested in boosting the development of the semiconductor industry, which is one of Oregon's advantages, hoping the two sides would explore possibilities for cooperation in this sector.
Both sides commended on fruitful achievements across all areas between Viet Nam and Oregon such as economics-trade, education-training and culture since a Letter of Intent between the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Oregon was inked in 2015 to deepen Oregon-Viet Nam cooperation.
They expected to bolster economic and trade relations via enhancing connectivity between their enterprises, promoting culture and education exchanges between Oregon and other localities in Viet Nam as well as expand collaboration in fields of Oregon's strength and Viet Nam's demand./.
