President Yoon Suk-yeol made the above statement at his meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Vientiane, Laos on October 10.

Yoon spoke highly of Viet Nam's role as the coordinator for the ASEAN-South Korea relations for 2021-2024 as well as its active support for the elevation of the ASEAN-South Korea ties to comprehensive strategic partnership.

Pham, for his part, reaffirmed Viet Nam consistently advocates the peace and denuclearization process on the Korean peninsula and stands ready to act as bridge to promote dialogues between relevant sides, contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in the region.

Both Pham and Yoon, who are now in Laos to attend a series of ASEAN Summits, agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral forums and work together to make active and responsible contributions to addressing common issues in the region and the world.

On bilateral cooperation, the two leaders reiterated their determination to continue deepening and enriching the contents of the Viet Nam-South Korea comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both sides agreed to increase high-level exchanges and contacts; promote cooperation in the fields of defense, security, economy and trade while launching cooperation in new and potential fronts like science and technology, innovation, research and development.

Prime Minister Pham affirmed Viet Nam will continue creating favorable conditions for Korean investors to do long-term business in Viet Nam, calling on the Korean side to continue opening up market for Vietnamese goods, especially farm produce.

He suggested South Korea to continue preferential loans for Viet Nam's mega infrastructure projects such as railway and expressway projects.

Pham took the occasion to extended sincere thanks to the Government and people of South Korea for providing US$2 million to help Viet Nam overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi, saying that the move indicates the friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

He also conveyed his invitation to Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo to pay an official visit to Viet Nam and attend the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) summit, scheduled to take place in Viet Nam in 2025.

President Yoon reassured South Korea attaches importance to the relations with Viet Nam, calling on Viet Nam to create favorable conditions for Korean investors to participate in infrastructure, urban development, energy and LGN projects in the Southeast Asian nation.

He promised to facilitate market access for Vietnamese goods./.
