Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan reported that the ministry received a proposal of both domestic and foreign airlines on removing the COVID-19 rapid test requirement before and after boarding.

The Ministry of Transport suggested the Government consider and allow the uniform application of regulations on pre-flight RT-PCR testing for travelers in line with international practices which other countries and territories have applied.

In case that RT-PCR testing is necessary, the Ministry proposed a single test for passengers and the crew after boarding.

There are a large number of Vietnamese people wishing to return home, including workers with expired labor contracts; students and people on working trips trapped overseas; and expatriates, especially on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year Festival.
