There will be a total of 500 seats in the 15th National Assembly at both central and local levels, according to a resolution adopted by the NA Standing Committee.

The figure comprises 207 central-level deputies and 293 local-level deputies.

Of the total, about 95 lawmakers (14%) will be members of the Party Central Committee, including Politburo members.

The number of ethnic minority deputies is expected to account for 18% of the number of official nominees.

Meanwhile, the number of deputies who are not Party members are expected to reach 25-50, equivalent to 5-10%.

The resolution also states that female deputies should account at least 35 percent of the total official nominees.

To date, central agencies have nominated 205 candidates, including incumbent leaders like Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission Pham Minh Chinh, and Secretary of Ha Noi Municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue.

The first national consultative conference took place on February 5 and the third conference will be held before April 18.
