The Departments of Education and Training in Ha Noi, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Phu Tho, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc and Hai Duong have announced to shut all schools on Saturday.
Among them, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh provinces are shutting schools on Friday and Saturday.
In Hai Phong, all educational institutions will be closed from September 7 until the storm passes. Schools designated as evacuation centers will suspend classes from 1 p.m. on September 6. In Cat Hai district, students were allowed to return home from 10 a.m. on September 6.
Superstorm Yagi is expected to enter the Gulf of Tonkin on Friday night and to make landfall in the northern coastline on Saturday.
To minimize the possible damage, all coastal localities from Quang Ninh to Nghe An have issued sea bans.
Four airports in northern Viet Nam, Noi Bai in Ha Noi, Van Don in Quang Ninh, Cat Bi in Hai Phong and Tho Xuan in Thanh Hoa will suspend services during certain hours on Saturday, resulting in the cancellation of 310 domestic and international flights.
