Rio Olympics: VN ranks third in Southeast Asia

VGP – With one gold and one silver, both won by marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh, Viet Nam achieved its best performance in Olympic Games ranking at the Rio Olympics in Brazil.

Rio Olympics was closed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 22 morning.  The country finished at 48th in the medal tally and ranked third in the Southeast Asian region.

Besides Viet Nam, only three other countries in Southeast Asia won gold medals at the Games, which are Thailand (two golds, two silvers and two bronzes), Indonesia (one gold and two silvers) and Singapore (one gold).

The Rio Olympic Games, the first held in a South American country, saw the participation of 207 countries and territories. 

Japan will host the next Olympic Games in 2020./.
