Prime Minister welcomes El Salvador’s Viet Nam Embassy opening

He made the remarks at a reception on February 14 for El Salvador Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexandra Hill Tinoco, who is an official visit to Viet Nam from February 14-16. 

Prime Minister Pham asserted that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the friendship and multifaceted cooperative relations with El Salvador. 

He proposed the two countries should continue to effectively implement the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries, maintain coordination and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums, and actively contribute to solving regional and global problems.

Pham suggested El Salvador facilitate market access for Viet Nam's key goods, especially agricultural and aquatic products.

He also asked the two sides to work together to categorize products and areas where the two economies can complement each other, build a favorable legal framework for trade and investment, and strengthen the exchange of business delegations, converting the two countries into connecting points between the Central American and Southeast Asian markets.

The host leader recommended the two countries expand coperation in other fields namely green economy, digital economy, culture, education, science, technology, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. 

In reply, Minister Tinoco commended Viet Nam for its economic achievements and social security, saying that she believes in the success of the Vietnamese Government's socio-economic development and recovery program, maintaining macroeconomic stability, and ensuring social security and sustainable development of the country. 

The Government of El Salvador attaches great importance to the role and growing position of Viet Nam in the region and the world, and expects to elevate relations with Viet Nam to a new height, affirmed Tinoco. 

The minister also pledged to accelerate the implementation of measures to put the proposals into reality.

Earlier, Tinoco held talks with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, durng which the latter highly valued El Salvador’s opening of its embassy in Viet Nam on the occasion of the former's visit, calling it an important step contributing to strengthening the bilateral ties.

This is one of the first two embassies opened by El Salvador in Southeast Asia and it is expected to contribute to promoting the bilateral relations across fields.
