Prime Minister to attend G20 Summit in Brazil, visit Dominica

The Vietnamese Prime Minister will also pay an official visit to Dominica from November 19-21 at the invitation of Dominican President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, said the Foreign Ministry.

Viet Nam attended a G20 Summit for the first time in 2010 as Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN).

At the G20 presidency, Brazil proposes agendas from the Global South for the meeting of the world's largest economies: combating hunger, poverty and inequality; sustainable development and reform of global governance.

For the first time as the leader of the group that includes the world's 19 largest economies, as well as the African Union and the European Union, Brazil will organize more than 100 working group meetings, both virtually and in person, during its one-year term, as well as around 20 ministerial meetings. The Summit, to be held on November 18-19, 2024, will be the culmination of this extensive work.

President Lula unveiled the three main axes of Brazil's G20 presidency during the 18th Summit of Heads of Government and State in September in New Delhi, India: the fight against hunger, poverty, and inequality; the three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social, and environmental); and the reform of global governance.

Viet Nam and Dominica on July 7, 2005 and both sides signed an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passport holders last September.

The two countries vowed to foster coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations, especially at the United Nations.

The two sides pledged to work together to foster collaboration between Viet Nam and countries in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and between Dominica and the ASEAN Member States./.
