Prime Minister to attend 20th CAEXPO, CABIS in China

VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning, Guangxi, China from September 16-17.

Pham's tour will be made at the invitation of the Government of China, said Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang at a press briefing on Thursday. 

CAEXPO and CABIS are jointly held annually by China and ASEAN in Nanning. It is one of the top 10 exhibition fairs in China.

The 20th CAEXPO and CABIS, is themed "Working together for a harmonious home and a shared future-promoting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road and Nurturing new growth center".

These two events are part of the series of activities to mark the 20th founding anniversary of China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership.

The events draw the participation of 120 Vietnamese businesses with 200 booths of various products such as agricultural products, aquatic products, food, footwear, garment, household appliance, wooden furniture.

Within the visit, Prime Minister Pham will attend the opening ceremony of CAEXPO and CABIS, visit the booths of Vietnamese businesses at the fair and meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

China and ASEAN are also members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). China enjoyed an on-year trade climb of 15 per cent with ASEAN in 2022, the first year the RCEP became valid.

China is ASEAN's largest trading partner and the bloc's second-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI). The ASEAN-China bilateral trade jumped from US$641.5 billion in 2019 to US$975.3 billion in 2022.

China is the biggest trading partner among 200 countries and territories that have import-export relations with Viet Nam.

Meanwhile, Viet Nam is China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and the eighth largest trading partner of the neighboring country globally.

In the first six months of this year, trade between Viet Nam and China reached over US$75.5 billion.

Viet Nam's main export items to China include mobile phones and components, computers and components, crude oil, coal, seafood, agricultural products and footwear./.
