Prime Minister suggests GE Vernova expand investment in power generation in Viet Nam

Pham reiterated that Viet Nam commits to developing clean energy and creating the most favorable conditions to enable foreign investors, including those from the U.S., to launch investment activities in the Southeast Asian country.

The Prime Minister suggested that GE Vernova expand its investment in Viet Nam to meet the country's energy demand and sustainable development goals, and contribute to developing Viet Nam's energy infrastructure and ecosystem, particularly by engaging in power generation and grid projects.

He urged GE Vernova to help Viet Nam train high-quality human resources in the power sector, transfer advanced technologies and expertise to help Viet Nam modernize electricity industry, especially turbine manufacturing technologies and study the development of hydrogen power projects in Viet Nam to promote green, clean, and sustainable energy transition.

Pham called on GE Vernova to invest in specific projects, consider Viet Nam a long-term strategic location, establish a research and development (R&D) center in the country, and sign cooperation agreements on power generation, transmission, and grid development with Vietnamese partners such as the Viet Nam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) and the Viet Nam Electricity Group (EVN).

The Prime Minister called on GE Vernova to continue to support Viet Nam in addressing tariff-related issues with the U.S., work with other American businesses to serve as a bridge, conveying accurate assessments of Viet Nam's real situation and efforts to the U.S. Administration regarding tariff policies, and enhance the effectiveness of the Viet Nam–U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership.

Maví, for her part, said GE Vernova plans to expand cooperation and investment in Viet Nam in such areas as supplying equipment for LNG power plants, building substations, equipment, and power transmission solutions and providing digital technology solutions for electricity sector.

She spoke highly of Viet Nam's efforts and commitment in advancing electrification toward a green, clean, and low-carbon manner, and pledged to make efforts to address trade-related challenges between Viet Nam and the U.S., as suggested by the Prime Minister./.
