Prime Minister suggests AIPA forge closer coordination

VGP - The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) should maintain solidarity and forge closer coordination in protecting and upholding the bloc’s principles and principled stances.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the above statement while addressing the ASEAN leaders' interface with representatives of the AIPA in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, on May 10.

The Prime Minister put forward three orientations for enhancing the effectiveness of coordination between the legislative and executive bodies.

Pham asked for boosting collaboration to perfect regulations and harmonize laws to remove barriers and bottlenecks, especially in trade and investment.

He also underlined the necessity to review and increase legal frameworks to facilitate movement of intra-bloc laborforce.

During the interface with the youth held the same day, the Prime Minister highlighted the youth's pioneering role and encouraged them to participate in addressing social issues and take the lead in volunteer activities to bring positive changes to the community.

Viet Nam is committed to joining ASEAN to create most favorable conditions for youth to develop, raise their voice and take part in making decisions about the future of ASEAN, he stressed.  

He proposed turning the ASEAN Community into a "learning community" to help the youth develop their skills and into a "creative community" for youngsters to uphold their creativity.

During the ASEAN leaders' interface with the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Vietnamese leader spoke highly of the role of businesses in accelerating trade and investment facilitation, digital transformation and sustainable and inclusive development. 

To make breakthroughs for the ASEAN Economic Community, Pham underscored the significance of completing institution, developing strategic infrastructure and building high-quality human resources, especially in terms of digital transformation, green conversion and high-tech.

At the ASEAN leaders' interface with the High-Level Task Force (HLTF) on the ASEAN Community's Post-2025 Vision, the Prime Minister urged the task force to have a breakthrough mindset with a creative and flexible approach so as to map out strategic directions for ASEAN development by 2045.

He also suggested the HLTF closely follow the three breakthroughs in terms of connectivity, growth promotion, and human development./.
