Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh opens NYSE trading session
VGP - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh rang the bell to open a trading session at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on September 21 (local time).
Pham, who is on a six-day trip to the U.S, had been invited by the world's largest stock exchange, where, welcoming him, NYSE vice president John Tuttle said: "We are willing to help get Vietnamese businesses listed on the NYSE and cooperate in cross-listing on each other's markets."
After a meeting with NYSE executives and writing a comment in the guestbook, the PM stepped up to the podium and rang the bell to mark the start of trading at 9:30 a.m.
Pham say it is an honor to be invited again after the first time in May last year when he rings the bell to close a session.
He described the NYSE’s market capitalization of US$40 trillion very impressive.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister expects the NYSE to help link up the Vietnamese stock market with itself and other leading global stock exchanges, and provide technical support and human resource training to it.
