The visit will take place from December 2-3 at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
The Vietnamese leader is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Home Affairs Do Thanh Binh, and Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh.
The trip comes as political relations and strategic trust between Viet Nam and Laos continue to be enhanced, with their core coordinating role and overall orientation in bilateral relations increasingly affirmed. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has recorded steady progress.
Two-way trade reached US$2.25 billion in 2024. During the past 10 months of 2025, bilateral trade totaled US$2.56 billion. Both sides are working to lift two-way trade to US$5 billion within the next two to three years.
As of April 2025, Viet Nam had 267 investment projects in Laos with total registered capital of US$5.63 billion.
At the 48th meeting of the Viet Nam–Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two government delegations will review the implementation of agreements under the Viet Nam–Laos cooperation plans for the 2021-2025 period and for 2025, and discuss and agree on cooperation directions and tasks for the 2026-2030 period and for 2026 to concretize the conclusions of the Political Bureaus meeting.
Within the framework of the meeting, the two sides are set to sign several important cooperation documents, further translating shared cooperation orientations into concrete action in the time ahead./.
