The event brought together Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Municipal Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, Managing Director at the World Economic Forum Stephan Mergenthaler, and leaders of 500 Vietnamese and foreign enterprises.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Pham thanked the World Economic Forum (WEF) for accompanying and assisting Viet Nam in hosting the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum.

He said Viet Nam targets to become a high middle-income country by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045, adding that these two centennial goals are challenging but must-do task.

Viet Nam will focus on consolidating the foundations for national development, including building the socialist-oriented market economy and fostering international integration; building socialist democracy; and building a socialist rule-of-law State, said Pham.

He emphasized that Viet Nam will consistently pursue socio-political stability and social order and safety, consider people as the most important resource and the decisive factor for national development.

Viet Nam will not sacrifice progress, social justice, social security and the environment for mere economic growth, Pham added.

The Southeast Asian nation will continue to build an independent and self-reliant economy in association with accelerating proactive and active international integration process; pursue the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of external relations, being a good friend, a trusted partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community, affirmed the Prime Minister.

Pham reiterated that Viet Nam remains steadfast with its "four nos" defense policy, means: no partaking in military alliances, no siding with one country to act against another, no foreign military bases in the Vietnamese territory or using Viet Nam as leverage to counteract other countries, and no using force or threatening to use force in international relations.

He also took the occasion to call for upholding multilateralism and strengthen solidarity among countries over global challenges.
