The Government leader stressed the point while addressing the 15th meeting of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control on July 5.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam and Le Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son, Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung attended the meeting.
The highest priority is to control the COVID-19 pandemic in order to step up socio-economic recovery and development, said the Prime Minister, emphasizing the need to prevent the re-emergence of the pandemic.
Pham also underlined the necessity to maintain three key pillars in the pandemic prevention and control including testing, quarantine and treatment as the first and foremost goal is to protect health and lives of people.
Since early 2022, Viet Nam has documented 9,014,374 infection cases, including 8,317,083 recovered cases and 10,693 deaths, according to the national steering committee.
In June, the daily number of new cases was around 600-700 while severe cases and fatalities continued to decline.
Over the last 30 days, the numbers of new infections and fatalities have respectively decreased by 4.5 times and 10 times against the previous month.
To date tthe Southeast Asian nation has confirmed 10,748,639 COVID-19 cases, of which 9,708,984 patients have recovered.
As of July 3, more than 233 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in Viet Nam, making the nation one of the countries having the highest vaccination coverage in the world./.
