Prime Minister meets Cambodian, Indonesian leaders ahead of ASEAN Summit

At his meeting with Hun Sen, Prime Minister Pham congratulated Cambodia on successfully hosting the opening ceremony of 32nd SEA Games, contributing to improve its image in the eyes of friends in the region and the world. Pham expressed his belief that Cambodia would successfully organize the general elections in July.

Hun Sen affirmed Cambodia always attaches importance to the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Viet Nam.

He thanked Viet Nam for sending a high-level delegation to the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to effectively implement the signed agreements, step up connectivity between the two economies, and support each other in building independent and resilient economies.

They also agreed to facilitate investment and business activities of both countries' business circles and coordinate closely and effectively in building a united, strong and prosperous ASEAN Community.

During their meeting, Prime Minister Pham and President Widodo held that the Viet Nam-Indonesia relationship is of strategic significance not only for both countries but also for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

The two leaders agreed that both sides would accelerate the exchange of delegations at all levels this year as both countries mark the 10th founding anniversary of their strategic partnership.

Both sides also agreed to promote the effectiveness of the existing cooperation mechanisms, work together to envisage an action plan for the implementation of the strategic partnership for the 2024 – 2028 period to lay solid foundation for deepening the bilateral ties.

Prime Minister Pham pledged that Viet Nam would continue cooperation with and support Indonesia to successfully undertake the 2023 ASEAN Chair, contributing to enhance the bloc's solidarity, unity, resilience and central role.

The two leaders reaffirmed their support for maintaining ASEAN's solidarity, central role and shared position on the East Sea issue, for full and effective implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and for early conclusion of an effective and efficient Code of Conduct in the East Sea that in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea./.
