Prime Minister Le Minh Hung meets Ethiopian counterpart Abiy Ahmed Ali on BRICS Summit sidelines

Le expressed his pleasure to meet his Ethiopian counterpart on the occasion of the 50^th founding anniversary of Viet Nam-Ethiopia relations.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister congratulated Ethiopia on its successful bid to host the 32^nd Conference of the Parties (COP32) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the 5^th edition of the biennial Partnership for Green Growth, Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in 2027.

Le spoke highly of positive growth of Viet Nam-Ethiopia relations, particularly since the official visit to Viet Nam by Prime Minister Abiy in April 2025.

As Ethiopia is as an important partner in Africa, Prime Minister Le called on both sides to continue consolidating political trust, promoting delegation exchanges, and enhancing legal framework to create long-term foundation for bilateral cooperation.

He also suggested the two countries expedite talks on double taxation avoidance, investment encouragement and promotion agreements.

Prime Minister Abiy recalled his impressions on Viet Nam's socio-economic achievements and rising global standing during his tour to the Southeast Asian nation in 2024, reassuring that Ethiopia considers Viet Nam a priority partner.

Abiy called on Vietnamese enterprises to enhance business investment activities in Ethiopia, especially in such fields like agriculture, processing, technology and artificial intelligence, promising that the Ethiopian Government would create favorable conditions for Vietnamese firms.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue close coordination at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, BRICS, and P4G.

Prime Minister Abiy affirmed that his country stands ready to promote its bridging role in fostering the relations between Viet Nam and the African Union

Abiy expressed his desire that Viet Nam would continue to share its experience and assist Ethiopia in hosting the P4G Summit scheduled to take place in February next year.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Le had a summit meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Director-General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Zou Jiayi./.
